Our lab has opening positions of Student Researchers<\/a>, PhD openings<\/a>, postdocs<\/a>, and interns<\/a>. We provide both in-person research mentorship at {ETH Z\u00fcrich, UofT in Toronto, MPI in Tuebingen}, and remote research mentorship for people in any<\/em> career stage from anywhere<\/em> in the world. Our Jinesis AI Lab is a world village\ud83c\udf0d where we have hosted 30+ nationalities.

For student research opportunities with us, we highly welcome (1) ETH Master students for their semester or thesis projects and (2) UToronto co-op, ASIP, or MScAC students. The application forms below are checked on a rolling basis every month, and last checked on 4 Feb 2026.

For my ongoing PhD admission, UToronto sends out PhD admissions on a rolling basis: Feb 12 for the first batch of admissions, Mar 30, May 5 for the last batch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We welcome students who can devote 6 months to 2 years<\/strong> of time working with us. You can be of any career stage, from anywhere on the earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Category 1: <\/strong>For ETH Master students<\/strong>, I\u2019m very interested in hosting Master Thesis<\/em>, Semester Projects<\/em>, and general research collaboration. On MyStudies, we can host you under Prof Bernhard Schoelkopf or Prof Mrinmaya Sachan. In special cases, strong ETH undergrads<\/strong> can apply too. Please send an email to me after you fill out the form<\/strong>, as you are in a priority channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Category 2: <\/strong>For UToronto students<\/strong>, I can host students based on their backgrounds in the application form. Students with previous research experiences and\/or strong coding or math background is highly welcome. At UToronto, my home department is CS, and I hold cross-appointments at ECE and Stats (DoSS). Apart from academic research, our Jinesis AI Lab is an official recruiter<\/strong> to host Co-Op, ASIP, EngSci bachelor thesis, and MScAC internships. Accepted students will have access to the Vector Institute’s compute and work space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Category 3: <\/strong>For students from anywhere on earth with any background (e.g., master\/undergrad\/gap-year student, and people who want to do research in their spare time regardless of the day job), check out the skill preferences in my form and welcome to apply. I am very interested in expanding the “convex hull” of spiked skills in my research group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Category 2 and 3: The most common type of coding background we need is your independent setup of common LLMs. E.g., it would be a bonus if you can set up something independently like https:\/\/theaidigest.org\/village<\/a>. Then I’d be very likely to take you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Students with a diversity background can also try reaching out to PhDs\/postdocs of Prof Rada Mihalcea<\/a> at UMich to see if they have capacities to host projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
